The Cardigans

I'm happy to present the first "guest post" on Being Perfect
is Hard. This one comes from Anya Sarre of Shoe Dazzle! She's a celebrity stylist who's had multiple TV appearances. When she contacted me about possibly guest posting for the blog, I was excited to see what topic she'd write about. Here Anya shares with us her love of cardigan sweaters, which I think most of us can relate to for Fall. I for one love love love a great chunky sweater. I'm wearing one right now.

The Cardigan: Powerhouse of Fall
by Anya Sarre

Autumn is a fun season for fashion because there is a ton of versatility in the way
you can use layers, accessories, and shoes to create several looks from a limited
closet. Who doesn’t like the realization that an outfit looks totally rejuvenated just by
adding a flashy scarf? I love the warm, soft look and feel of fall clothing. As soon as
the leaves start to fall from the trees, I’m standing in front of my closet mixing and
matching my favorite pieces. Fall fashion is all about creativity in
expression. Whether you like to invest in a few key pieces or switch it up with a
large collection of scarves and boots, you can turn heads with a little bit of ingenuity
and creativity!

My personal favorite for fall is the cardigan. It is a really simple garment that can be
dressed up or down a ton of different ways. I love the way it has clean lines on the
body, and I think it’s one of the fall items that can really show off your figure. There
is something very classic about a nice cardigan; I feel like people have been wearing
them from the beginning of time!

The best feature of cardigans is the diversity of fabric and pattern. I love the argyle-
based designs because I think they have a very autumnal look. Because the
cardigan is a slim-fitting item, you can pair it with a long skirt or wide-legged trousers
for a more professional look. I personally like to pair it with skinny jeans and calf-
high boots to cut a super trim silhouette. If you opt for a solid neutral cardigan, you
can even pair it with colored jeans for a cute, quirky feel.

Because the cardigan is the hallmark of simplicity, there’s a lot of room for
accessorizing. A cute, feminine watch can make for an elegantly understated
appearance, but the cardigan is quiet enough to handle big, low-hanging necklaces
or chunky bracelets. Scarves can add a splash of color to more classic cardigans,
and I always thought that knit hats and cardigans were made for one another. This
is why cardigans are one of my go-to pieces – they allow me to be creative and have
fun with my wardrobe!

It’s time to bust out the warm and fuzzies, button up that cardigan, throw on your
favorite hat, and explore the world! Trying new things while having fun and being
yourself is what being a fashionista is all about!
